    Question

I posted this on another board but nobody knew what was wrong so I'll try here. Friday evening my brother was drove the car to get some movie tickets. On the way there he hit a pothole with the FR wheel. After he got the tickets he noticed the car was making a creaking noise. It sounded like it was coming from inside the tranny housing. It only creaks when I let the clutch up at the first inch or so and it doesn't have to be in gear or on to make the creak. So I took to Honda that evening and they told me to bring it back Saturday morning. Saturday morning it mysteriously went away so I didn't go to Honda. Today (Sunday) it came back. This is on a 99 EX w/JRSC and ACT heavy duty PP and SS disc. I don't know if it was the standard ACT TO bearing because the place I bought it from sent a pilot and TO bearing with japanese packaging. Does anyone know what happened?

Nobody??? Then can anyone tell me why some say to get the honda TO bearing instead? What is the common problem with one from ACT?

Hey, I have the same problem as well. Started some time after I put in the SC. There's this creaking sound when let out the clutch in gear. On stock clutch.

If anyone knows what's up, I'll like to hear from them as well.

    Thanks

I'm not sure how hitting a pothole could affect the throw out bearing, but when my bearing went bad it didn't creak when the engine was cold - only after it got hot. The clutch fork got super hot as well - must have been heat transfer from the bad bearing.

I had a problem in my tranny that would make a high pitch humming sound everytime I would release the clutch pedal. It was the throw out bearing that needed to be replaced. It didnt cost me a thing since it was still under warranty and I dont know how much they are.

    Bearing: $39.64 (John Eagle Acura 281-589-0600) P/N 22810-P21-003
Labor: $250 to $450 depending on who does it.
I ordered the lighter 'R' flywheel, pressure plate and disc from them as well.

If it even creaks when the engine is off and the car is at rest, it's either the release fork pivot or the pressure plate assembly. I'd guess it's former.

Guys, the problem is in fact the RELEASE FORK PIVOT BOLT and/or the CLUTCH PEDAL ASSIST SPRING. The TSB number is 97-055. Go to the dealer and ask them to copy the page for you. Mine does this too. You just have to constantly lube the pivot bolt. Make you sure you use Hi-Temp Urea Grease.

waveoff, should I have the dealer do it? I can probably do it if it doesn't require removal of the tranny housing.
